The Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) is a key component of the Express Entry system designed for skilled tradespeople who want to obtain Permanent Residency (PR) based on their qualifications and experience in a designated skilled trade. Canada has a high demand for trades workers across various provinces, and the FSTP offers a streamlined route to meet this need by welcoming those who can establish themselves quickly in the Canadian economy. North Globe Immigration assists you in showcasing your hands-on expertise and meeting the rigid program requirements for a successful application.

To be eligible for the Federal Skilled Trades Program, candidates must meet the following mandatory requirements. Your application must demonstrate compliance across all four major areas:

Skilled Work Experience

At least two years of full-time (or equivalent part-time) paid work experience in a skilled trade within the five years before applying. The experience must be in a job classified under the National Occupational Classification (NOC) TEER 2 or 3 in the designated major groups (Industrial, Electrical, Construction, Maintenance, etc.).

Language Ability

Meet the minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) score in an approved test (English or French): CLB 5 for Speaking and Listening, and CLB 4 for Reading and Writing.

Job Offer OR Qualification

Applicants must have one of the following: A valid job offer of full-time employment for at least one year from up to two Canadian employers; OR A Certificate of Qualification in that skilled trade issued by a Canadian provincial, territorial, or federal authority.
